The delegates have spoken and Portia Simpson Miller is now the President Elect for the Peoples National Party. As a result she will become our next Prime Minister in the next few weeks when PJ retires.

Now I am not a big political man, and I have absolutely no affiliation to any particular party but I must admit I am very interested to see how Portia will do. There has been and continues to be a lot of debate about how she will perform. Critics tend to bring up that she is not as educated as some of her colleagues. They say that she is unable to hold her own in the international community. But she is arguably the most loved politician that this country has ever seen. IN the eyes of the "likkle" man who make up the masses of our beautiful island, she can do no wrong. All people can see is that she has the welfare of the people at heart. And what more should we really ask of our leader.

I believe that whoever leads this country needs to have the welfare of the Jamaican people as their first priority and demonstrate this in every and all circumstances. Whether they can give a speech that boggles the minds of the academia or that they have several letters at the end of their name does not make them a good leader. All of those things can be appropriately dealt with by surrounding herself with intelligent advisors and consultants.

What this country is clamouring for is a change and that is what I believe she can bring. We have been getting the same kind of leadership for decades. Hopefully she will be able to change the face f Jamaica because we are desperately in need of it. As the first female prime minister she definitely has a lot to prove, but I am looking forward to seeing what she will bring to the table.

Di work a kill me

Lawd have mercy. My office is currently in the period that we call our busy season. During this period, we generally end of up working 10 -12 hour days, 7 days a week. In the distant past it it had lasted approximately 3 months - from January to March, but it now seems like it is around the clock.

There is never a moment to scratch my head, I am dying to get some rest but I unfortunately can't afford it. And worse on top of all of this is that I have been breaking my cardinal rule of NOT WORKING LATE ON FRIDAYS. I will work around the clock on every other day of the week but Friday night is mine. But I have found myself in a situation where because of some report and some client deadline I have been here during some ungodly hours on my big big Friday. Listen dis cyaan work, mi nuh inna dat. (KISS TEET).

Last night I left here at 9:30 pm and then went home and worked until about 12 and the night before I never got to bed until about 3. I havent had a weekend since probably November 2005 that I havent been at work.

But anyway, Man a bad man, mi nah mek di bakra massa kill me

Bwoy, I really should be working....

Have you ever noticed that sometimes when you have alot of work to do, you just can't seem to focus? This especially happens when you are tired. Well that is where I am right now. This morning wasn't too bad, I had a meeting which went well (ie as well as a meeting can go I guess). But trust me after that my brain died. I cant even say that, I think it is more that I was just too tired to bother to think. So that is how come I ended up starting my first blog. I have entered the blogosphere that some of my friends seem to have jumped into. I can't promise I will be as poetic as some of the ones I have seen out there but at least it will give me an opportunity to write down the stuff I think every once in awhile. Especially at times like this when my brain decides to rebel against "the man" and no amount of negotiations will end this rebellion.

I have no idea what I will put on this blog, because I tend to be a very get to the point kinda person, but who knows there are those times that I get very deep and I am looking forward to those philosophical ,what is the meaning of life moments to see what I will write.

So friends and family and any other fast person who want to nuff up themselves on my blog, welcome to the world of Uncle Gungo, I hope you enjoy.

Later
